About the Maker: Lisamarie Pearson is a product designer, seamstress, and sculptor based near Boston, Massachusetts. After being diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma in 2011, she started sewing as a therapy tool for herself to heal from the trauma of having cancer. She mixed repurposed clothing & new materials together to create little octopus toys that not only made her smile- but others as well. She started selling her work at local fairs and handmade markets and soon quit her job to run Scatterbrain full-time. 'I design toys & products that I would have wanted as a child. Having anxiety myself, sensory toys & arts & craft were things that made me happy and brought me joy growing up. So by designing silly octopal characters & arts & crafts supplies, it allows me to create the toy brand of my dreams to share with children & adults. My toy line includes limited edition octopals with poly beads mixed with fluff for sensory, bat buddies are wristlets that double as finger puppet for interactive play & calming pressure against your wrist for anxiety, along with Sully the Sloth; the sensory toy that hugs! A super soft sloth that has velcro hands to hug you & provide a calming affect. Along with my plush toy line, I carry complimentary products to the plush toys such as DIY stencil kits, coloring posters, notebooks & sketchbooks, enamel pins, vinyl stickers and more. I'm also working on a children's book series with my characters that will touch on anxiety, acceptance, and team work.'
